Centerpieces anyone?

I am having some confusion about what our centerpieces should be or if we should even have them.  We are not having large tables at the reception (no sit down dinner...heavy hor dourves buffet style).  Instead, we are going to have multiple cocktail tables around the Inn (hopefully so people will walk around and mingle rather than staying in one spot all night).  That being said, I really love these centerpieces and would like to incorporate them in some way into the reception.  I definitely want candles around all over the place, because I think they are super romantic.  Anyway....here are some pics to keep you entertained.

Wedding Location Pictures

I just discovered that our wedding falls on my weekend to work, which means it also is the weekend to work for a lot of our STL guests!  In order to entice them all to get their shifts covered so that they can come to SC for our nuptials, I've posted some pictures of the beautiful place where we will be saying our "I dos".  Enjoy the pics!

Dresses

Here is the bridesmaid dress.  It's a little hard to see in the black (which is the color the dresses actually are), but there is an adorable little bow underneath the bust line.  I thought these dresses were perfect...simple and classic.  All of my beautiful bridesmaids have been fitted for their dresses, and they all say they love it (at least if they don't, they're humoring me).  I know everyone says "I want you to be able to wear it again", but I think these may actually be able to be worn again.  What woman doesn't need a LBD?

Flower Inspiration

Here are some pictures of flowers that I think are gorgeous.  I really like the traditional fall colors (reds, oranges, yellows), and I think they would look great with the colors we are using (ivory and black).  Also...as cliche as it is, I really think that roses look beautiful in bouquets.  All of these images are from Google Images...if you click on the photos, it will take you to the original URL.

Programs

Here is my first attempt at making the programs for the wedding.  It was a pain in the butt to get all the paper in alignment, but I am really happy with the outcome.  I'm quite proud of myself.

Bridezilla

(Just click on the question mark and it'll take you to the clip.  It is really short, but totally worth it.)
I never really got into the whole Bridezilla phenomenon thing, but while I was off of work the other day (I was scheduled to work, but got called off), there was a marathon on and I got sucked it!  Trenton happened to be home, so he got sucked in also (and boy does he realize how lucky he is now).  This chick, Megan, was too much.  This clip shows only a small portion of her craziness.  My favorite quote from the whole episode (or one of them) was "There will be no fun at my wedding.  This is not a party.  I don't have fun."  She was completely serious when she said that!  She also mentioned, a lot, that she would "own" her fiance, a man (and I use that term very loosely) named Corey, after they were married.  Kind of makes me chuckle seeing as how one of the main goals of our wedding is that our guests and us have fun.  For any of you who were confused...our wedding is a party, a big one...we want you to have fun and celebrate with us!

Yummy Inspiration

Here are some photos of what I would like our cake to be.  (Substitute ivory whenever you see white)  One of our friends has agreed to make our cake for us, so I'm sure she will have ideas of her own as well.  The main thing is that I want the cake to be delicious.  Trenton and I haven't really talked about flavors yet, but I am a chocoholic, so that may play a part in the whole process.  Also, we both LOVE red velvet cake, and that may be really cool for the fall.  We'll see...enjoy the photos.  (FYI I got all of these images from Google Images, but if you click on the images themselves, you will be able to see the original url so that the proper credit can be given for the pics)

Save the Dates

I made our Save the Date cards already.  Funny little tidbit, I have been sucked into the The Knot world, and those women on there have acronyms for everything wedding-related.  guess what save the date cards are called?  yep...STDs!  Anyway...here is a pic of our STDs (giggle, giggle, giggle).

Blame it on the ears!

I know this is the second post in one day, but I feel like I need to defend Winston.  He went to the vet today, and we found out that he has ear infections in both ears!  The vet said that's probably why he bit Trenton.  Ear infections make dogs really crabby and easily agitated, so it doesn't usually take much to set them off.  Anyway...we got him some medicine, so we'll get him all fixed up!  (See...he's still a sweetheart!)

Look what I made

I don't know if it is allowed or not to have the flower girls toss actual petals (real or artificial), so my idea was to make pomanders for them to carry instead.  I've never actually made one, but I figured it can't be that hard.  I went to Michael's this evening and bought some supplies.  Here is my first attempt...what do you think?

Invitations are here!

We all know that I am incredibly type A and OCD (specifically about wedding planning...any of you who have seen my book can attest to that), but just shut up for a minute and let me be excited about this!  OUR WEDDING INVITATIONS CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY!  I know, I know...the wedding is a year away (352 days to be exact), but I don't want to be assembling them all next spring!  They look gorgeous, and I can't wait to put them all together and send them out to those of you who will be joining us on 09.05.09!  WOO HOO!  (can you tell that I'm a little excited about this?)

Bad Doggie

So our sweet and innocent little Winston bit Trenton in the face on Sunday night!
Now...before you say anything about Winston, you need to hear the whole story.  Trenton, Winston and I were playing around like normal.  Trenton and I were making funny noises, and I guess Winston was tired of playing.  I don't know if he felt trapped or what, but he snapped at Trenton and really messed up his top lip.
Trenton is okay, although his handsome face may have some new scars.  Winston was punished (instead of sleeping on the bed with us, he slept in the kitchen that night), but now we are all one big happy family again.

Moral of this story:  do not make bumble bee noises in your dog's face!

Introductions

Since this is the first post on the blog, I figured I would start with some introductions.  Most of you already know Trenton and me, but for those of you who don't...here goes.  Trenton and I are transplants here in St. Louis (since Jan. of 2006).  We moved here from Spartanburg, SC after I graduated from nursing school so that I could begin my nursing career at St. Louis Children's Hospital.  I started in the pediatric intensive care unit, and later transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit where I currently work.
Trenton started working for Whole Foods shortly after we moved here, and he has been quite successful with the company.  He is currently the assistant team leader for the seafood department at the Town & Country store.  He loves his job, he's good at it, and we both enjoy the 20% discount at the store.
We have come to see Saint Louis as home, and we have made some wonderful friends here.  We hope to stay here for a long time, and are looking forward to searching for a house in the next couple of years.
There will be more posts later (those of you who know me will not be surprised as I LOVE to talk, and I pretty much have an opinion on everything), but for now it is my bedtime.  (Yes, I am aware that it is only 10:00, but I am kind of old now....we go to bed early!)
